What plastic materials are available?

We offer 5 main engineering plastic options: PP (polypropylene, light and chemical-resistant), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, glossy and impact-resistant), PC (polycarbonate, strongest and clearest), PE (polyethylene, flexible and cold-resistant), and PA (nylon, abrasion-resistant). For OEM/ODM, we also support PPS, PBT, and custom blends.

What is the difference between injection molding and rotational molding?

Injection molding produces rigid cases with high dimensional accuracy (suitable for complex internal features). Rotational molding produces seamless, hollow cases with uniform wall thickness (suitable for larger cases, 100L+). Our factory operates both processes.

What is the wall thickness?

Injection-molded cases: 2.5-4.0mm wall thickness. Rotationally-molded cases: 4.0-6.0mm wall thickness. We can produce custom wall thicknesses from 1.5mm (light-duty) to 8.0mm (heavy-duty Mil-Spec). For explosion-proof or high-pressure applications, walls up to 15mm are available.

What temperature range can engineering plastics handle?

PP: -20°C to +100°C. ABS: -40°C to +80°C. PC: -40°C to +120°C. PE: -40°C to +80°C. PA (Nylon): -40°C to +150°C. For extreme environments, we offer glass-filled nylon (up to +200°C) and high-performance PPS (up to +240°C).

Are the cases UV resistant?

Standard PP and ABS have moderate UV resistance. For outdoor applications, we add UV stabilizers (carbon black, hindered amine light stabilizers HALS) rated for 2000+ hours of QUV exposure without brittleness or color fade. For marine and tropical deployments, we recommend PC.

Can cases be made in custom colors?

Yes. We offer Pantone-matched custom colors for OEM/ODM orders. Standard MOQ: 500 pieces for custom color. For small batches (50-100 pieces), we offer pre-colored material at slightly higher cost. Color matching takes 5-7 days.

Are the cases recyclable?

Yes. All our engineering plastics (PP, ABS, PC, PE) are 100% recyclable. We have a take-back program for end-of-life cases. Recycled-content cases are also available (30% post-consumer recycled PC) for sustainability-focused clients.

What certifications do the materials hold?

PP: FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 (food contact), EU 10/2011 (food contact), RoHS, REACH. ABS: UL94 HB flammability, RoHS, REACH. PC: FDA food contact, USP Class VI biocompatibility, RoHS, REACH. PE: FDA, EU 10/2011, NSF/ANSI 51.

Can the case be metalized or coated?

Yes. We offer EMI/RFI shielding coatings (nickel, copper, silver), ESD coatings (10^6 to 10^9 ohms), conductive paints, and decorative finishes (chrome-look, brushed aluminum, soft-touch rubber). Coating is applied after molding.

What is the weight difference between PP and PC?

PP density: 0.91 g/cm³ (lightest). PE density: 0.95 g/cm³. ABS density: 1.05 g/cm³. PC density: 1.20 g/cm³. For a 530x400x250mm case: PP ~1.8kg, PE ~1.9kg, ABS ~2.1kg, PC ~2.4kg. PP is 25% lighter than PC.

What is the impact strength?

Notched Izod impact strength: PP 100-150 J/m, ABS 200-400 J/m, PC 600-850 J/m. ABS and PC have superior impact strength for drop-prone applications. We test every production batch with 1.2m drop test (26 drops) per Mil-Std-810.

Can I get a sample of each material?

Yes. We ship material sample kits (50x50mm plaques of each color) for $50 + shipping. Sample kits include PP, ABS, PC, PE, and PA in standard and custom colors. Lead time: 3-5 days.
